Manjot Kaur

Manjot Kaur’s drawings, paintings & time-based media attempt to decolonize both women's bodies & the sovereignty of ecology. My works traverse speculative fiction, visual storytelling & myth-making, to explore the interconnection between humans & more than humans. I refer to archaic cultural symbols of fertility in order to reflect on the reproduction rights of various species of flora & fauna.Cross Pollinating ancient mythologies & histories, I counter-narrate iconic motifs & attributes, & set them in juxtaposition with one another, to allow opportunities for critical reflection. Threaded throughout are revelations of fecundity, kinship, care, symbiosis, and dependency.
