Amelia Butcher

Amelia Butcher is a British Columbia-based visual artist with a sculptural and drawing practice centered in clay. She graduated from Emily Carr University in 2013, is a board member of the BC Potters Guild and a founding member of the Dusty Babes Collective. From 2015-2021 she lived and worked out of their communal studio, built by the late great Don Hutchinson in Surrey, making pots and running collaborative atmospheric firings.

She has exhibited her work widely and has instructed classes and workshops in clay and comic-making for over ten years, including community and school programs all over the Lower Mainland. She is passionate about putting clay into hands, connecting mind to matter, bridging history and modern stories - sharing the "magic dirt" with all ages.
