Amelia Butcher

Amelia loves to cast, build, mold, extrude, cut and throw clay into her desired forms, then embellish with slips, drawing, painting and transfers. She makes sculptural and functional objects that are little explorations of private theories like the relationship between science fiction and Canadian identity, or cake as social fabric, or witches. She don't work towards a decisive statement but towards objects with a little resonance, a surprise or joke, surface in partnership with shape.
