Alina Blackett

Alina Blackett is an interdisciplinary artist living on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. She started working at Arts Umbrella in 2021 as a Front of House Supervisor, and has been leading the development of a brand new rentals program since January 2023, when she accepted the position of Coordinator, Rentals and Events. Alina brings extensive experience in customer service, hospitality, and front of house management, administration, marketing, and theatre to this new role at Arts Umbrella. She is excited to be a part of an organization that is dedicated to inspiring creativity in young people. An actor, writer, and director herself, Alina is passionate about the healing power of art and believes in the importance of arts education. Writing is one of Alina’s biggest sources of creative joy: her solo show, The Reason I Perish was produced in the Nanaimo Fringe in 2022, she has written articles published in the Georgia Straight, and she is currently developing a new play for young audiences. Alina is a graduate of the Acting program at Studio 58.
