Taylor McKee

Taylor McKee is a music director, educator, and performer originally from Maple Ridge. She grew up performing and training heavily in musical theatre, with a strong focus on music. After being accepted into Langley Fine Arts School, Taylor discovered a love of music directing. She graduated valedictorian of the LFAS music department, and continued her studies at UBC. At UBC she sang with the prestigious University Singers and published research on music and psychology, leading her to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Music with high distinction. Taylor is now a Co-Artistic Director of Sherwood Theatre, where she has found a home as a music director. Her music direction at Sherwood Theatre has earned her multiple awards, including the 2024 Canada Young Theatre Award for Outstanding Youth Leadership and the 2025 Ovation Award for Outstanding Music Direction (small theatre). She is passionate about challenging the ways we make art, and finding new ways to collaborate. Taylor is grateful to pass on her love of storytelling through music at Arts Umbrella.
