Lauren (Kirsten) Robek
Lauren (Kirsten) Robek is a BFA (Honours) Graduate of York University. She grew up dancing ballet under the tutelage of the esteemed Ms.Cameron and Ms.Slater in New Westminster, BC. At the age of 15, she transitioned from dance to theatre. Actively involved in the local theatre scene with such memorable performances as: Wendy (Peter Pan) at The Globe Theatre, Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at Bard on the Beach, Mary Bailey (Its A Wonderful Life) at Arts Club Theatre, and now most recently as Catherine Petkoff (Arms and the Man) at Jericho Arts Centre; Lauren has also worked across Canada for a touring production of the Electric Company’s original presentation of Brilliant!
Having spent the better part of the last two decades focussed on film and television work; Lauren has acquired over 100 on screen credits, received 9 nominations and 5 awards for her work; and will never forget the honour it was to work opposite Bill Pullman in a Lifetime presentation of the true crime story based on the Murdaugh family. Lauren is a fan of accents, finding unscripted moments, and will never shy away from the joy of laughter! When asked to coach children for on-screen auditions, and assisting her own actor children with their on-set experiences, she discovered a new passion for teaching.
Still always pushing to discover more hidden talents, Lauren is currently working on her writing; and has successfully seen one of her short pieces get to Production and win a Student Film award for Best Original Script. She hopes to inspire young talent to learn all areas of the craft and know that we are all part of a greater whole; to give it our best and trust that there are gifts to be found in both failure and success. Life is a journey, and we are the storytellers of that journey.
