Julia McLean

Julia holds an Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance from Sheridan College and is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and educator. Having begun her own artistic journey at a young age within Vancouver’s vibrant theatre community, she understands firsthand the impact that arts education, mentorship, and creative opportunities can have on a young person’s life. Many of her earliest experiences as a performer helped shape not only her career, but also her confidence, sense of community, and love for storytelling.

She is thrilled to be teaching at Arts Umbrella and to be part of this vibrant community that champions creativity, curiosity, and artistic growth. Whether working with students who are stepping onto a stage for the very first time or those pursuing advanced training, Julia strives to create a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every student feels empowered to take creative risks and grow.
