What is Giving Tuesday?
It’s a Canadian movement that aims to transform how people think and talk about giving, especially during the holiday season. Giving Tuesday lands on the Tuesday following Cyber Monday, giving charities, companies, and individuals an opportunity to rally for a good cause and think about others.
At Arts Umbrella, our goal for Giving Tuesday is to raise funds to support free and low-cost programming for at-risk youth in Metro Vancouver.
Help us reach our goal of providing 250 free art classes to young people in need.

Take a class with us and you’ll contribute to our bursary fund, bringing more art to more kids this year. Sign up for a 45-minute art workshop for Drawing & Painting, Mixed Media & Sculpture, or Dress Up Drama, and let your child’s imagination soar.
Classes are recommended for kids ages 2-5.
DRAWING & PAINTING
Children learn about elements of art and design as they play and experiment with various painting and drawing techniques. They’ll gain confidence and independence by learning the basics of materials like pastels and watercolours. Plus, they’ll complete an imaginative project inspired by a fun artistic theme!
MIXED MEDIA & SCULPTURE
Let your little one’s imagination grow! At our Mixed Media & Sculpture class, children will explore 2-D and 3-D art-making. Enhance their spatial awareness skills through the use of a variety of materials and techniques such as clay, paper, cardboard, watercolours, pastels, and wood!
DRESS UP DRAMA
Settle in for story time! We’ll share stories and myths from around the world to set the stage for your child’s journey through the landscape of imagination and the art of pretending. After story time, children will transform into beloved characters or fantastical creatures using costumes from Arts Umbrella’s “tickle trunks.”
Unable to attend?
Unable to attend? Kick off the holiday season feeling great! Help us reach our goal of providing 250 free art classes to young people in need. Consider donating $25 to donate one class, $50 to donate two classes, and $100 dollars to donate four classes! Make a donation to Arts Umbrella — together we CAN make an impact.
Studies show that art plays a critical role in childhood development, improving graduation rates and providing young people with a sense of community and self-confidence. We believe finances should never prevent a child from participating in the arts. As a non-profit organization, Arts Umbrella is committed to making our programming accessible to as many children and youth in our communities as possible. This Giving Tuesday, help us reach our goal of providing 250 free classes to young people in need.
