Community Programs

Outside of our tuition-based programming, Arts Umbrella also delivers no-cost programs to thousands of young people throughout Metro Vancouver and remote Canadian communities.

Our community programs bring the Arts Umbrella experience to children and youth across Metro Vancouver at no cost. These programs are delivered collaboratively with 110+ community partners, including school boards, healthcare facilities, day cares, and community centres. Through these strong community relationships, we reach thousands of young people with the care, support, and creative joy that they need most.

We work with the Vancouver School Board, Surrey School District, and other community partners to develop programs that centre the needs of children and youth who participate in our community programs. For many young people, these programs offer a safe, supportive outlet to explore self-expression and the limitlessness of creativity.

Arts Umbrella Locations
Facilities on Granville Island, and at our Surrey Centre location host both tuition-based programs and no-cost Community Programs.
Community Program Partner Locations
Programs engaging children and youth experiencing vulnerability, offering a safe, supportive, and inspiring outlet to explore self-expression and creativity, made possible through generous community support.
Public Student Performances
Students from all over Metro Vancouver receive low cost tickets for performances of Mixed Nuts and Expressions Theatre Festival.
Northern Arts Connection
In partnership with Connected North and TakingITGlobal, this live distance learning initiative delivers theatre programs online to schools in remote communities.
Post-Secondary Scholarships
Arts Umbrella provides full and partial scholarships to students in select programs who are keen to stretch their artistic boundaries in a mentor-based learning environment. These include: Creative Launchpad, Dancers of Today, McCall MacBain Cultural Leadership Scholarships, and RBC Auditioning Scholarships.
