Nico Dicecco
Manager, Theatre and Stagecraft Operations
Over a glorious decade, Nico has worked in the Vancouver theatre and dance industries in roles that span from stage management and technical direction to videography and media design, growing versatile in nearly every aspect of stagecraft and theatrical production along the way.
Throughout this journey, Nico’s work has strived to centre the experiences of emerging, vulnerable, and marginalized artists by supporting their visions with technical and logistical problem-solving. This central value has fostered a career rich with diverse and innovative projects including: the Realwheels Academy, which integrates sound, lighting, and video design in an ongoing training/rehearsal context to support the artistic development of performers living with disabilities; Through My Lens (Theatre Replacement), which uses a live camera feed and immersive projection design to illustrate the artistic processes of Amy Amantea, a photographer who lives with blindness; and The River (Myriad Dance Projects), which united filmmaking and live dance performance on surging river waters to engage indigenous communities living along Wedzinkwah, an ancestral river of the Wet’suwet’en peoples.
Nico holds a PhD in English from Simon Fraser University for his research on transmedia adaptation, digital culture, and performance.
