Professional Training Program

This half-day program is designed for students committed to the highest level of dance education. Participation is by audition only, and candidates must display technique, strength, discipline, and artistic curiosity.

Ages 13-18 | Elementary, Intermediate, Senior, Advanced Pre-Grad

2026/27 Tuition: $8,480 CAD

The Training

This half-day program is designed for high school students committed to the highest level of dance education. Dancers train for a minimum of 25 hours per week alongside our core faculty and international guest artists. All classes take place in our industry-leading facilities located on iconic Granville Island, and include ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, partnering, and repertoire. 

All professional training program students must attend either our International Summer Dance Intensive (ISDI) or ISDI2 each summer.

Performance

As members of the Arts Umbrella Dance Company (AUDC), students develop a strong sense of community and a sophisticated understanding of their craft.

Academic Pathways

To complete their high school courses, students must either be home-schooled or have their high school provide a half-day academic program for them. We partner with Magee Secondary School who currently provides a half-day Sports and Arts (SPARTS) program that allows dancers to maintain a rigorous dance schedule alongside completing academic requirements in preparation for high school graduation and post-secondary opportunities. Students who attend Magee receive credits towards graduation from their training at Arts Umbrella.

Admissions and Auditions

All applicants must audition (in-person or by video submission).  

Arts Umbrella does not provide student housing.
