NEW THIS YEAR Advanced level for ages 17+ in collaboration with Ballet BC and Artistic Director, Emily Molnar. Designed for the auditioning dancer to develop skills for entrance into the professional dance world.

Summer Dance Intensive (12+ years)

The extensive three-week program includes Ballet, Repertoire, Pointe, Pas de Deux for advanced students, Modern, Jazz, Coaching and Conditioning, and Movement Exploration. Students take four to six classes each day with master instructors, repetiteurs and choreographers working toward a performance.

Admission to Summer Dance Intensive (SDI) and the Professional Program is by audition only. All Arts Umbrella Professional Program students are required to attend SDI, and must re-audition each year. Open auditions will take place in Vancouver on March 21, 2010. If you are unable to attend in person, you may audition by DVD.

Key Dates:

March 15, 2010: Final application deadline. All audition applications and fees must be received at Arts Umbrella by this date.

March 21, 2010: Live auditions in Vancouver at the Granville Island location. Click here for audition times.

April 6, 2010: Application deadline for DVD audition submissions.

April 12, 2010: Successful applicants notified via email by this date. Online registration begins. Registration details will be available in early 2010.

June 11, 2010: Eligible bursary applications based on financial need and supporting documentation due.

July 2, 2010: Registration deadline for successful applicants. Payment in full is due by this date.

August 2, 2010 (BC Day): First day of Summer Dance Intensive. Orientation and placement classes begin at 9:00 am in the Granville Island studios. Regular classes will commence in the afternoon.
