Students of the Professional Program, as selected by the Artistic Director, Dance.
Established in 1985, the Arts Umbrella Dance Company provides young dancers with broad-based performance opportunities and technical training, in preparation for post-secondary dance education, or a career in a professional adult company. Past members of the Company have gone on to perform in companies around the world.
The Company includes senior and apprentice ensembles that train, rehearse, and perform new and innovative works by locally and internationally acclaimed guest choreographers. Company members perform in more than 15 shows a year, and have toured to Montreal, Toronto, New York, and most recently to Japan and Holland. The Company instills a sense of commitment and discipline and teaches good work habits.
Participation in the Company is supplemental to other program requirements, and requires full commitment from its members and their families. Company members must dedicate 6 to 10 hours per week to class and rehearsals, plus 4 to 10 hours per month to performances.
