About the Program

Here’s your animation industry insider. Students in the Electronic Arts Teen Animation Scholarship Program have the rare opportunity to work with animation and gaming industry professionals, including a guest session with animators from EA. These leaders share knowledge and provide project guidance, while students explore media arts tools and technology.

Participants with a passion for animation, a talent for storytelling, and commitment to the program will be able to develop a strong portfolio piece for post-secondary school application. This full scholarship program also concludes with a group exhibition at Electronic Arts.

Applications must include a portfolio, a letter of interest, and an artist statement.

Scholarship Details
  • Full scholarships to 10 artists ages 15–19
  • 15-week program, Sundays 2:30–4:30 pm, starting January 26, 2020
  • Concludes with a showcase of work at EA Games in June 2020
  • Students will have the opportunity to learn with EA animators and other industry professionals, to explore ideas and experiment with animation styles
  • Develop skills and critical thinking in their artistic practice
  • Develop a strong portfolio piece for post-secondary school application

Scholarship applications must include the following:

  1. Completed application form.
  2. Three examples (limited to 3 minutes only through a link to YouTube or Vimeo) of your best animation or multi-media work that exhibits your level of computer skills. Remember to test the link before you send!
  3. 5–7 images (saved as a JPEG and no larger than 1MB each) that show the full span of your creativity and storyboarding—a sequence of drawings, typically with notes on movement and dialogue, representing the shots planned for a movie, animation, or television production.
  4. Letter of intent describing your interest in the program, what you would gain from this scholarship, and your commitment to actively participate for the duration of the program. Include a brief statement about your work and current artistic practice.
