They may be small, but Botjoys help spread joy and inspire courage.

Bots share happy feelings, wise advice, and kindly compliments – all with the goal of creating more joy.
These hand-painted mini-robots were first created by Oregon artist Gary Hirsch, and have gone on to spark international participation.
For Culture Days, the domino effect of Botjoy reached Arts Umbrella.

On Sep. 26, 2015, young artists made their own bots – creating one for themselves and one for someone else.
Kids made their bots at three Culture Days events – Arts Umbrella Granville Island, Arts Umbrella South Surrey, and the Surrey Libraries Maker Showcase.
Creative young artists produced bots in the hundreds. Each unique, colourful, and with their own special magic.
The bots have a mission beyond Culture Days. They will be given to children at Canuck Place later this month.
This project fits wonderfully with Arts Umbrella’s mission to inspire creativity for good.

Because we know that when kids learn a love of art, they learn even more from it.
Enjoying meeting this crew of Arts Umbrella bots!
