Lisa Hurlbutt

With almost 30 years experience working with top local and international brands, Lisa is a senior director with a rich history in advertising, marketing, and communications. Her career began in advertising, learning the value of a genius idea and why we should care about ROI! It was also the gateway into loving the art of managing relationships, whether it be with clients, internal stakeholders, vendors or her immediate team. From the advertising world, she travelled the path to what advertising folk call The Dark Side, aka the client side. She spent many years exploring storied places around the globe and learnt the true value of storytelling – a much needed skillset in the days of pre-selling real-estate when all we had to market was the dirt! Next was her foray into the not-for-profit space – a space that she quickly fell in love with and hasn’t left. Over 8 years with the Canadian Cancer Society in a senior role where it was now about learning the true value of a dollar. The work was meaningful and the mission was powerful, but when a similar opportunity came up at Arts Umbrella, she couldn’t say no! Breaking down barriers to provide as many youth with access to an arts education was a dream job. At Arts Umbrella, Lisa thrives on empowering the teams around her and is passionate about being an ambassador, a steward and a builder of an incredible brand.
