Anna Ashbarry

Anna Ashbarry joined Arts Umbrella in December 2022 and is the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. She moved to Vancouver in early 2020 and gratefully acknowledges that she is an uninvited guest and settler on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

Anna grew up in the UK and studied photography, film, and media in college. She started her career working as a professional photographer for an e-commerce retail company before becoming self-employed and moving into the non-profit sector. Before joining Arts Umbrella, Anna worked with a variety of charities and not-for-profits in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, and Canada. Anna also spent two months in Nepal as a Volunteer and Youth Reporter for the agency Restless Development. She and her team helped raise awareness and create educational resources about child marriage, sexual health, and sexual rights. She was honoured to receive a Values Championship Award from Restless Development for her ongoing volunteering efforts with the agency since her return from Nepal.

Anna is a passionate volunteer, advocate, and activist. She has cycled 350 miles across Beijing to raise money for Women V Cancer, donated 30cm of hair to The Little Princess Trust, ran a half-marathon to raise money for Dyslexia Canada, and much more.

With professional experience in training, content creation, and fundraising, Anna is excited to be on the Arts Umbrella team and is thrilled to work with teammates committed to ensuring arts education is available to every young person in Metro Vancouver and beyond.
