Arts Umbrella is proud to announce the 2025 schedule for our highly anticipated annual celebration; Expressions Festival!

Expressions Festival brings inspired, cutting-edge performances, and innovative showcases – centered around celebrating our talented young artists.

The 2025 line-up includes:

Seasaw

Charla is the new girl at school, nervous about her shabby clothes and mourning her parents’ breakup. Her new friend, Paige, is only concerned with fashion, gossip, and her popular “boyfriend”, but soon the emptiness of her life comes to light. Josh, a shy and timid child, neglected by his career-minded parents resorts to magic in order to make himself disappear when victimized by the school bully, Adam, who passes on the rough treatment he receives at home. Inspired by conversations Foon had with young people in the 90s, this poignant, playful and honest play allows youth voices to shine through.

The Forests Wild

The ECO (Exploration, Conservation, Observation) 11 program is on their end of year excursion, a mostly unsupervised camping trip in the interior of BC. After Sophie kills a weird bug thing, the group hears strange moose-like noises from the woods. Students begin acting strangely and there is perhaps something more than nature at work here. The students must work together to emerge from their flight or fight animal panic to concoct a plan to save their classmates, and maybe the world. Written by Francis Dowlatabadi

Newsies JR

In 1899 New York City, when powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys’ expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what’s right.

Between The Lines

Between the Lines is an empowering and enchanting new musical for anyone who has ever sought to find their place in the world. An outsider in a new town and a new school, Delilah seeks comfort in the pages of her favorite book, where she feels heard and understood by the handsome Prince Oliver. But as the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur in both extraordinary and astonishing ways, Delilah discovers how to find her place in the real world while keeping her dreams alive.

L.O.V.E

Performed by the Sketch Comedy and Improv Troupe, this show premieres new, original work from our talented students, centered around the theme of love.
