A self-taught artist, Tyler Toews has worked for the last eight years as a studio assistant to Attila Richard Lukacs. His large-scale, expressionistic paintings reveal a language of bold colour, gestural shapes, and loose hints of representation through abstract faces and graffiti-esque brushstrokes. Toews has shown at galleries including the Burrard Arts Foundation, where he completed an artist residency in 2018, Monica Reyes Gallery, and Sopa Fine Arts, where is now represented. Toews lives and works in Vancouver, and his work has been collected internationally.
