Judson Beaumont has been an Arts Umbrella friend and advocate from the very beginning. In February 2020, the Vancouver art and design community lost one of its most dedicated, hard-working, and wonderfully creative forces: Jud. Leaving behind a creative legacy with his youthful spirit, Beaumont will always remind us to create fearlessly, take chances, and do what you love. A 2014 British Columbia Achievement Award of Distinction winner and graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Beaumont founded Straight Line Designs in 1985. There, he created one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and commissions. Known for his whimsical designs, Beaumont constructed impeccable forms from seemingly impossible ideas, honouring both the object and the space it will inhabit. Splash 2020 is dedicated to Judson in honour of his years of friendship and support.
