Wine Arts 2011: A Taste of Napa, held at the gorgeous new Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel, was a memorable evening, celebrating both the benefits of arts education and amazing wine.
This popular event sells out every year, but this year the buzz surrounding event was extra special. Not only did 23 Napa Valley wineries pour their exquisite varietals, but guests were also treated to a moving rendition of Coldplay's "Fix You" by 40 students from the Arts Umbrella Musical Theatre Troupe.
These students have had the chance to work with industry professionals in music, dance and theatre thanks to Arts Umbrella's advanced theatre program, with many students participating at a reduced rate through the bursary program.
"We were all so inspired by the students' performance at one of our most popular events of the year," said Lucille Pacey, President & CEO of Arts Umbrella. "Their inspired performance added a richness and meaning to this wonderful evening that guests will remember for a very long time".
Thanks to all of the 350 guests in attendance, the co-presenting sponsors; PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ledcor, and the support of Napa Valley Vintners, this event raised nearly $50,000 in net revenue for the students of Arts Umbrella.

Wine Arts 2011: Sonoma Winemakers Dinner featured five stunning wineries paired with five mouth-watering courses, many "heads and tails", one beautiful view and most importantly, one inspiring performance. Those were the highlights of Arts Umbrella's first Winemakers Dinner, in partnership with Sonoma County Vintners and Seasons in the Park.
The sold-out event was the second of two wine tasting events held this past November to support Arts Umbrella. Winemakers from five esteemed Sonoma wineries; Foppiano Vineyards, J Vineyards and Winery, Patz & Hall, Ramey Wine Cellars and Rodney Strong Vineyards, spoke passionately about their grapes while guests savoured decadent dishes such as pear and brie tartlet, and rib eye with fingerling potatoes.
Throughout the evening, guests enthusiastically partook in a fundraising game of Heads and Tails in a bid to win two wine and dine packages, followed by an inspiring performance by a student from the Musical Theatre Troupe which is a part of the Pre-Professional Theatre Training Program at Arts Umbrella. Guests generously gave to support the cause, and together, both wine events generated nearly $60,000 in net revenue for Arts Umbrella.
