One of the things that makes Arts Umbrella such a magical place is our artist-instructors. They’re the people we trust to open every child’s imagination, help young people build confidence, and encourage teens find their unique artistic voices. In Dance, Theatre & Music, and Visual, Applied, and Media Arts classes, our instructors generously share their passions with our students. Whether it’s at our Granville Island and Surrey locations, or across Metro Vancouver in schools, community centres, and health care facilities, our instructors are a dedicated bunch. Get to know them a little better with this video series. You’ll be inspired!
A longtime Arts Umbrella instructor, Golnar Sepahi brings a lot of history and context to her Visual Arts classes. Born in Isfahan, Iran, she studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Capilano College before getting her BFA from Emily Carr. A practicing artist, Golnar combines various styles and mediums in her creations. In this video, with her students in Drawing & Painting ages 9–12, she lets the students explore watercolours after teaching them technique. Get to know more about Golnar’s inner child, how that influences her art, and how it relates to teaching.
