I started at Arts Umbrella in the Fall of 2001 while finishing my BFA degree at Emily Carr. Since then I have been working alongside Marta Robertson-Smyth as VanGo Outreach Assistant. This is one of the best jobs in the world. It’s a gift to bring art to kids, especially those who might otherwise not have the opportunity to experience quality art instruction and materials.
I am a member of two artist groups in my East Van neighbourhood: the Renfrew/Collingwood Artist Network, and the Art House in the Field Collective. I’ve led a cultural mapping project, school workshops, and community art projects for the Vancouver Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants Program and Collingwood Neighbourhood House.
I make art assemblages out of found and reclaimed materials and have shown in group shows including ReVision: The Art of Recycling, which is held on Granville Island each summer.
