The Personal Information Protection Act

Governs the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by private sector and not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia. Arts Umbrella respects your personal information and will adhere to legislative requirements with respect to protecting privacy.

Accountability, Openness and Access

Arts Umbrella is responsible for all personal information under its control. Arts Umbrella will make information available to you concerning the policies and practices that apply to the management of your personal data. Arts Umbrella will inform you, upon your written request and with appropriate notice, of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal information and will provide you access to it in accordance with the law.

Limiting Collection

Arts Umbrella will limit the personal information collected to that information necessary for the purposes identified by the organization.

Use, Disclosure and Retention

Arts Umbrella collects, uses, and discloses your personal information generally for the following purposes:

To communicate with you regarding Arts Umbrella events, programs, exhibits and/or performances, and fundraising initiatives.

To enable Arts Umbrella to operate its registration and administrative functions.

When you provide your personal information to Arts Umbrella through the online registration website, your data is transmitted to a server located within Canada and is subject to Canadian federal laws.

Accuracy

Arts Umbrella will take appropriate steps to ensure that the personal information collected is accurate and complete as is necessary for the purposes which it was collected, used or disclosed. It is your responsibility to contact Arts Umbrella to keep your personal information up-to-date.

Safeguards

Arts Umbrella will protect your personal information by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Safeguards will vary depending on the sensitivity, location and storage of the personal information. If you use Arts Umbrella’s online registration website, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your access information and password. You also agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your password on the online registration website.

Arts Umbrella will not disclose information without your consent and does not rent, sell or trade mailing lists. The information you have provided will be used to deliver services and to keep you informed and up-to-date about the activities of Arts Umbrella. Activities include advising you of fundraising initiatives, programs, services, special events, open houses, exhibits and/or performances.

Arts Umbrella will continue to send you information about the above activities unless we hear from you.
