Wood, Clay & Papier Mache Sculpture

Discover the boundless possibilities of three-dimensional sculpture. Using clay, wood, papier maché, and found objects, develop design and construction skills, self-expression and imagination. Learn about a variety of themes and cultures by creating unique sculptures.

Clay Sculpture

6-8 years
Inspired by world cultures and contemporary artists, students create three-dimensional works while learning basic hand-building techniques including pinch pots, slab and coil construction. Sculptures will be painted, fired and/or glazed.

Study the world of three-dimensional art forms and learn about the techniques, materials and methods of sculptural design. Work with wood, paint, clay, papier maché and found objects using traditional techniques and experimental methods to create your own pieces.

Clay Sculpture

9-12 years
Travel through time and place to discover myths and fantasy through art. Examine form, function, context, and the aesthetics of clay sculpture by using a variety of hand-building techniques. Sculptures are fired, glazed and/or painted.

Clay Sculpture Advanced

Prerequisite: Three sessions of Clay Sculpture or instructor approval

11-14 years
Express your creativity through sculptural design. In this advanced course, extend your clay sculpture techniques and skills. Through innovative projects, expand your sculpting methods and deepen your understanding of colour, texture and concepts of construction, proportion, form and shape.
