Parent & Me: Visual Arts

Join your child in exploring imagination and creativity. Budding creators experiment with colour, shape, pattern, texture, mark making and collage. With the help of knowledgeable and caring instruction, participants will delight in discovering new abilities.

Parent & Me: Creative Movement

Through movement, children experience the joy of being alive. Rhythm, music and movement encourage coordination, balance and self-confidence. Fun activities introduce diverse ways of moving to music from around the world.

Art Start

Children experience a variety of imaginative themes using watercolour, tempera paints, oil pastels and chalks. With the help of knowledgeable and caring instruction, they will delight in learning new skills while embarking on their own creative adventures.

Mixed Media

Children learn to experiment with pattern, texture, shape and colour. They invent new forms and enhance their spatial ability with materials like papier maché, clay, found objects, cardboard, paint and plastic.

Painting & Drawing

5-6 years
In this class, children are inspired by some of the world's greatest artists. Participants explore a variety of materials and techniques including watercolour, ink, chalk, and oil pastel, and learn about colour mixing and patterning.

In a supportive atmosphere of discovery, children learn to express themselves through song, movement and stories. They are encouraged to express their own unique voice while exploring rhythm and movement. Group activities help develop coordination and balance.

Dress-up Drama

Sharing stories and myths from around the world sets the stage for journeys through the landscape of imagination. Children pretend to be fantastical creatures using costumes and props from Arts Umbrella's tickle trunk.

Primary Ballet

Participants discover the possibilities of movement through body awareness. They learn about spatial and musical themes — the basics of dance. Children begin to develop a strong, healthy, and coordinated body.

Transition for Pre-schoolers

3-6 years
If you'd like to register your preschooler(s) in multiple classes that take place one after the other for a richer and more diverse experience, we offer Transition. You can register your child for this supervised, 15 minute break between classes. At the end of the break, children are escorted to their next class. Please provide a small snack for your child.
