Summer Dance Intensive: August 3 - 21, 2009

World-renowned choreographers and instructors offer a dance training experience that will help students reach their performance potential. The program is designed to encourage technique, strength and artistic expression.

The extensive three-week program includes Ballet, Repertoire, Pointe, Pas de Deux for advanced students, Modern, Jazz, Coaching and Conditioning, and Movement Exploration. Students take four to six classes each day with master instructors, repetiteurs and choreographers working toward a performance.

Admission to the Summer Dance Intensive (SDI) and Professional Program is by audition only. All Arts Umbrella Professional Program students are required to attend SDI and existing students must re-audition each year. Open auditions will take place in Vancouver on May 10, 2009. If you are unable to attend in person, you may audition by DVD/Video. Please note that the cost of living in Vancouver is very high and that unfortunately, we are unable to arrange housing for out of town dancers. Key Dates:

May 1, 2009: Application deadline. All audition applications, fees and DVDs must be received at Arts Umbrella.

May 10, 2009: Auditions at Arts Umbrella 10:30am - 12:00 noon.

May 22, 2009: Accepted dancers notified via email

June 1, 2009: Registration deadline. Payment in full or $150 non refundable deposit due with completed registration form. If applicable, bursary application and supporting documents are also due.

July 1, 2009: Outstanding fees due

Aug 3, 2009: First day of SDI. Placement classes will be held in the morning and scheduled classes will begin in the afternoon.
