Student Commitment
Students are required to make a full year commitment as the classes are progressive and success depends on weekly development and assessment. Students who register in September are expected to remain in the program until June. All students (except those in Recreational classes) will complete their year of training with a recital performance at the Gateway Theatre.

Attendance & Punctuality
Students are expected to be on time for class so that they will be able to participate in the necessary warm-up and do not disrupt the other students. At the discretion of the instructor, students who arrive 10 or more minutes late may have to sit out and observe the class. Students who are late or absent from class three or more times without a valid explanation may be required to meet with the Artistic Director, and depending on the circumstances, students may be asked to leave the program with no refund of fees.

Class Change Policy
Student-initiated changes must be approved by the Registrar. A $25 administrative fee per change will apply. Faculty-initiated changes must be approved by the Artistic Director. No administrative fee will apply.

Registration Fees
Each dance program level has a base level fee which covers all classes that are required at that level. In addition, some levels offer optional classes, for which there are additional fees.

Professional Program Payment Policy

Dance Refund/Withdrawal Policies

If a request for withdrawal is received 2 weeks before the program commences, Arts Umbrella will refund the balance less $100 deposit.

If a request for withdrawal is received 2 weeks before the program commences and before September 30, Arts Umbrella will retain 30% of the tuition fees.

If a request for withdrawal is received after October 1 and before December 1, Arts Umbrella will retain 50% of the tuition fees.

No refund will be issued after December 1 except in the case of illness or injury, where a pro-rated refund may be issued if a written request for withdrawal is accompanied by a physician's note.

All requests for withdrawal must be forwarded in writing to the attention of the Registrar.  Arts Umbrella will pay any eligible refund within thirty (30) days of the Registrar receiving a written notice of withdrawal. Non-attendance or non-payment of outstanding fees does not imply a formal withdrawal.

Students missing more than 4 weeks due to an injury are asked to speak with the Artistic Director, Dance.

Arts Umbrella reserves the right to remove any student who fails to comply with its rules and regulations or who engages in any activity the Directors deem contrary to the fulfillment of Arts Umbrella's objectives. In such an event, Arts Umbrella will be owed the fees for the complete school year (net of applicable bursary assistance) in excess of $100 and bursary recipients will be asked to reimburse the full value of that year's bursary.
