Kay Huang Barnes

Kay danced professionally for Karen Jamieson Dance Company. Her choreography has been featured in Vancouver, the United States, and Barcelona, Spain. A faculty member of UBC and Arts Umbrella, she has piloted dance and movement programs for many of the downtown eastside preschools, Immigration Service Society, Down Syndrome Research Foundation, Vancouver School Board, Connect Through the Arts in Surrey, and has been a guest artist at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, Arts Umbrella pre-professional theatre, and Byng theatre.

She founded crossmaneuver in 2011 as a training vehicle for young artists and an opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary works of art. In 2019, crossmaneuver and Emily Carr University of Art and Design, along with Microsoft Vancouver, created a project with teens in exploring and creating dance with virtual digital media. Kay has also collaborated with many dance, theatre and visual artists and companies in Vancouver including Davi Rodrigues, Little Mountain Lion Theatre, Lara Barclay, Claudia Segovia, Jessica Ames, Kayla Heselwood, Roselle Healy, and Virginia Duivenvoorden.
